Mr Alexander Fessas

Alexander G. Fessas is the Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. As Secretary General, he is responsible for the work of the ICC Court’s Secretariat and other dispute resolution services in Paris, Singapore, New York, Sao Paolo, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi Global Market. He read law at the University of Athens, Greece having specialized in international commercial transactions and conflict of laws. I am an English barrister/arbitrator practising in the commercial area specialising in dealing with commercial disputes. I am also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). Prior to being called to the English Bar in 2014, I had 30 years of executive level techno-commercial experience in the chemicals, life-sciences, logistics and food sectors.

Julia Figueiredo holds a law degree from the Law School of the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). She works in judicial and arbitral proceedings, with in-depth experience as both a lawyer and secretary of Arbitral Tribunals in domestic and international arbitrations. She has participated three times as a mootie (both in Vienna and Hong Kong) and since 2018 she is one of the coaches of the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro’s team for the Willem C. Dr Aleksandrs Fillers

I am an associate professor at the Riga Graduate School of Law (Latvia), where I teach private international law and contract law. Before that, I received an LL.M. degree in International Commercial Arbitration from Stockholm University (Sweden) and my Ph.D. degree from Antwerp University (Belgium). My dissertation was devoted to the specific policies of EU private international law. Miss Carla Fischer

Carla Fischer is currently working as a research associate with CMS Hasche Sigle’s arbitration practice in Munich. Since September 2021, she has been pursuing a PhD in international law at the University of Edinburgh, where she is volunteering as a coach for the University’s Vis Moot team for the 30th Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition. Dr Simon Fischer

Dr. Simon Fischer is an attorney in the dispute resolution team of the renowned German law firm Gleiss Lutz. He specializes in state court litigation with a focus on complex cartel, insolvency, and corporate law disputes - almost always with cross-border connections. He holds a doctorate in international investment protection law from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In addition to this, the organization hosts the only in-person pre-moot in sub-Saharan Africa which takes place in Nairobi, Kenya in February every year. Ms L. Reagan Florence

Reagan Florence is licensed attorney admitted within the State and Federal District Courts of Minnesota; the State court of Utah; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She currently practices complex commercial litigation and arbitration as an attorney for Alan Anderson Law Firm LLC.

Prior to law school, Ms. Florence worked for a multi-million dollar international health and wellness company for five years. During that time, Ms. Florence also obtained her Bachelors of Science from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Following her undergraduate degree, Ms. Florence attended and graduated from Mitchell Hamline in 2014. Mr Davit Gharibyan

Davit Gharibyan is the Deputy Director of the Center for Legislation Development of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, where he supports the development of the country's regulatory policy in the field of judicial and legal reforms, including arbitration and mediation.
Davit obtained his LLB and LLM from Yerevan State University, Faculty of Law. Currently, Davit is doing his PhD in the same university.
He started his professional career with the Central Bank of Armenia in 2019. He joined the Center for Legislation Development in 2020. Davit is also an advocate acting in the field of Civil Law since the end of 2021. For several years, Davit has participated in the Willem C. Ms Hoda Ghassabian

Hoda defines herself as a poetic heart with a cosmopolitan soul, ready to challenge herself and broaden her perspective. During her academic years, Hoda participated in the 28th Willem C. Vis Moot, placing her University at the 69th out of more than 300 teams, and coached the last years’ teams. It was with the Vis Moot experience that Hoda started cultivating her passion for arbitration. At the same time, as a space law enthusiast, Hoda took part of the ESA and ECSL Summer Course to deepen her knowledge in this field, in so far as she wrote her Master's thesis in Space Arbitration. Ms Luísa Ghizzo

Luísa is a Brazilian qualified lawyer, she has been working in Marcondes Brincas Advogados, in Florianópolis, Brazil, where she advises clients, mainly with commercial issues. Currently, she is also a LLM Candidate in Transnational Arbitration and Dispute Settlement at Sciences Po, Paris, France. Before enrolling in the LLM, she studied for a year (2015-2016) at the Universidad de Salamanca Law School, in Spain, enrolled in the summer course in Advanced International Law at Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich, Germany (2019), and in the summer course in Private International Law at the Hague Academy, The Hague, Netherlands (2021). Throughout her studies she dedicated herself to academic moot court competitions, such as the JESSUP Competition and other two National Moot Courts on domestic arbitration, CAMARB Competition and CAEMP Competition. Mr Andreas Giannakopoulos

I am a barrister at Ten Old Square, in London. I practise mostly in contentious and non-contentious trust matters, partnerships & LLPs, insolvency, and property disputes. Before coming to the Bar, I graduated from the Anglo-French law degree, jointly organised by King's College London and Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas, and completed the Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford. My interest in arbitration stems largely from my time in France, where I studied international commercial law and investment arbitration, as well as from lectures I attended at The Hague Academy in 2022. Prof Daniel Girsberger

Daniel Girsberger is a founding member of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lucerne (www.unilu.ch) and a tenured professor for Swiss and International Private, Business and Procedural, as well as Comparative Law. Before accepting the Lucerne assignment, he taught at the University of Zurich law school. He is also of counsel at Wenger & Vieli Ltd., a major Zurich business law firm (www.wengervieli.ch).

Daniel Girsberger completed his legal and doctoral studies at the University of Zurich, where he also taught as an adjunct professor. He has an LL. M. in Common Law Studies from Georgetown University Law School, where he also spent time as a Visiting Scholar, as well as at the Max-Planck Institute for Foreign and International Private Law in Hamburg. He has taught as an adjunct at various universities and institutions abroad, such as in Brazil, Lithuania, the United States, and the Academy for International Law in The Hague, and participated as a member of the Swiss delegation at the Hague Conference for Unification of International Private Law. Mr Manuel Gómez Carrión

Manuel is a Spanish qualified lawyer (admitted Madrid Bar) specialising in international commercial arbitration and investor state disputes. He is currently an independent practitioner based in Madrid, mainly acting as secretary of arbitration tribunals and assistant for arbitrators. He has previously worked as counsel in London for several US firms.

Bryn is a New York litigator who practices management side employment law. Simon is a Partner with Clifford Chance's international arbitration group in Paris, representing clients in international arbitrations and acting as arbitrator. Ms Iva Grgić

Iva Grgić obtained her Master of Law degree from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Law in May 2013 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2014.

Iva is currently an SJD student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she is writing a dissertation under the supervision and guidance of professor Ronald A. Brand. In her doctoral research, Iva focuses on the imbalance of powers inherent between farmer and buyer within contract farming and how that imbalance leads to unfair trading practices that harm the farmer, an economically weaker party. Iva’s dissertation aims to provide a future dispute resolution model that could help minimize the negative consequences of unfair trade practices and ensure commercial justice and contract enforcement for the farmers.

Jill I. Gross is Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. Prior to relocating to the Netherlands, Helin worked at one of the leading law firms in Turkey. She also gained experience as a self-employed lawyer. Currently, she is employed at a Dutch SaaS scale-up, where she handles various legal matters.

Throughout her career, Helin has focused on different areas of law, with a strong emphasis on commercial law, contract law, and intellectual property law. Erlend Haaskjold is one of the leading arbitrators in Scandinavia. He is Partner and Head of International Arbitration at Schjødt Law Firm in Oslo. Dr Ralf Hafner

After seven years with a major Anglo-American law firm in its Dusseldorf and London offices, Ralf has been working with ADVANT Beiten as a partner since January 2011. He is the current Head of Dispute Resolution there. Ralf particularly advises his national and international clients on complex, international disputes, mostly post-M&A cases as well as other corporate, commercial and contractual matters and represents them in arbitration and state court proceedings, including proceedings for the enforcement of arbitral awards. I was part of the Young ICCA Mentoring Program Mentoring Group with Klaus Reichert as the Mentor. I am a co-author of the section on Poland in Jus Mundi's new comprehensive study on the enforcement of ICSID awards. I was an arbitrator at the Warsaw pre-moot. I also have experience as a tribunal clerk.

My PhD research focuses on the overlap of powers of the authorities in EU data protection law. I act as an external Data Protection Officer and advise on designing and implementing data protection schemes across industries.

Mr Frederik Overgaard Hansen

I finished my law degree at Aarhus University in July 2021 after having participated in the 28th Vis Moot in 2020/2021. I currently work as an assistant attorney at the Danish law firm Gorrissen Federspiel in Copenhagen in the dispute resolution department. I am primarily involved in Danish litigation and international arbitration cases.

Ms Miisa Happonen

Miisa Happonen is a Senior Associate and an Attorney-at-Law working with Dispute Resolution practice of the Nordic law firm Roschier, Attorneys Ltd. She joined Roschier in 2018, and specializes in arbitration, litigation and corporate investigations. Miisa has experience on both domestic and international arbitrations conducted under the ICC, SCC and FAI Rules. She has acted as counsel in disputes across several sectors, including energy, technology and telecom, as well as in post-M&A and corporate disputes. Miisa also regularly advises clients on various regulatory, anti-corruption and insolvency-related matters.

Mr Douglas Harrison

Douglas Harrison is an independent international commercial arbitrator and mediator at Arbitration Place in Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the CPR Panels of Distinguished Neutrals, and is on the arbitration rosters of ICDR Canada and ICC Canada, among others. He has recently served as tribunal chair, as a party-appointed arbitrator and as a sole arbitrator in ad hoc arbitrations and in arbitrations under the SCC Rules and the ICDR Rules, in matters involving the pharmaceutical industry, the energy sector and financial institutions. He is the chair of the Toronto Commercial Arbitration Society and the Director of the Society's Gold Standard Course on Commercial Arbitration. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and has recently acted as an expert witness on Canadian law in courts in the United States and the Netherlands. He is a Co-Chair of the University Tribunal of the University of Toronto. For over 30 years, Mr. Harrison was with Stikeman Elliott LLP in Toronto conducting a broad corporate-commercial litigation and arbitration practice acting for clients from around the world in a wide range of industries. Dr Sven Hasenstab

Mr Florian Haugeneder

Florian Haugeneder is a partner at KNOETZL, a leading firm in arbitration, litigation, alternative dispute resolution, business crime, compliance and corporate crisis management. Before co-founding KNOETZL in 2016, he was the head of the international arbitration practice of a large international law firm.
Florian has extensive experience as counsel and arbitrator in institutional and ad-hoc arbitration proceedings, including under the DIS, DIA, ICC, ICSID, KCAB, LCIA, SCC, UNCITRAL and VIAC Rules. Mr Christoph Heinimann

Christoph Heinimann is a Junior Associate at Bär & Karrer, a major Swiss law firm, working in the Litigation & Arbitration practice of Nadja Jaisli. He has completed his Master of Law at University of St. Gallen while working for many years as a Research Assistant to Prof. Dr. Müller-Chen, researching and teaching contract and sales law topics and leading an update of Müller-Chen's contributions to the Schlechtriem & Schwenzer CISG commentary. Mr Campbell Herbert

Campbell is a senior associate based in the London office of McDermott Will & Emery where he practices international arbitration and public international law. He holds an LLB (Hons (First)) and a BCom from Victoria University of Wellington, an LLM (Hons (First)) from the University of Auckland, and is a PhD candidate at the Grotius Centre at Leiden University where his research focuses on the interface between investor-state dispute settlement and sovereignty. Mr Axel Benjamin Herzberg

Axel Benjamin HERZBERG is dual-qualified in both Germany, as well as England and Wales. He is a founding partner at BODENHEIMER in Berlin, Germany, where he primarily handles international arbitration cases, both as counsel and arbitrator. I am a Ukrainian lawyer having experience in corporate, migration law and arbitration. Worked in the Ukrainian arbitration boutique ARBITRADE, which deals primarily with commercial arbitration. Currently, I am a research associate at Squire Patton Boggs in Berlin, assisting in investment arbitration cases. Apart from my studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (IDR LLM), I am also pursuing the Master of Law degree at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Dr Dominik Horodyski

Dominik is a qualified dispute resolution lawyer, admitted to Polish Bar, holder of the Ph.D. degree from the Jagiellonian University, Cracow, Poland. He works as a counsel at the Department of International and European Law of the General Counsel to the Republic of Poland and as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law of the SWPS University, Warsaw, Poland.
His practice focuses on investment arbitration and litigation. Dominik has substantial experience in commercial disputes resolution in the field of oil and gas, energy, mining, construction, banking and finance and infrastructure. Mr Michal Hrušovský

Michal Hrušovský participated at the VIS MOOT as a student in 2009 and 2010. He studied law at the Comenius University in Bratislava and graduated in 2010 (Master degree), in 2012 he reached doctor of law title (“JUDr.”) and in 2016 PhD. Since 2010 he worked in a law firm PROLEGAL, s. r. o. as a law trainee (3 year mandatory traineeship). In 2013 he took the Slovak Bar Examination and from January 2014 he is a member of the Slovak Bar Association. He cooperated with law firm Ernst & Young Law s. r. o. as a Senior Associate for 4 years. Ms Clio Huber

After completing her law degree at the University of Zurich in 2022, Clio Huber began working as a junior associate at a well-known Swiss law firm.

Motivated by her growing interest in arbitration, which was sparked during the 2020/2021 Vis Moot where her team won the Werner Melis Award, she then pursued an internship in Gangnam, Seoul, at a law firm renowned for its arbitration practice.

She has since returned to Switzerland and is currently working as a law clerk at a district court, planning to take the Swiss bar exam in 2025.

Prof Dr Peter Huber

Peter Huber is Professor of Private International Law and Comparative Law, at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany). He writes on international commercial law, in particular the CISG, and the law of international litigation. He has been a coach and patron of the Mainz Moot team for over 20 years.

Dr Roman Huber

Roman Huber is a Counsel at the Swiss law firm Kellerhals Carrard in Zurich and advises and represents clients at all stages of the dispute resolution process and acts regularly as counsel in complex proceedings before state courts and arbitral tribunals. He also specializes in large-scale internal investigations relating to white collar crime and regulatory issues and advises corporate clients in compliance matters. He represents clients in investigations by Swiss and foreign authorities, including U.S. authorities. He regularly publishes on topics in these practice areas.
In the year 2013 he received a Ph.D. with a study on dispute resolution clauses in trust instruments from a Swiss law perspective from the University of Zurich. Mr Nejc Humar

Nejc Humar is an Associate who joined Jadek & Pensa Law Firm in 2021. Before that he gained experience at a smaller Slovene law firm, where his work mainly revolved around prevention and resolution of disputes. He participated at various national and international law competitions, including Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court and Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in both Vienna and Hong Kong. His current work focuses on prevention and resolution of disputes, including arbitration. He has also annually published Slovenia Law and Practice Guides in the Chambers Global Practice Guides.

Mr David Hunt

David’s practice focuses on international arbitration, with a particular emphasis on investor-state disputes. He is a go-to lawyer for clients with complex international disputes.
David has particular expertise in the Russia/CIS region and has acted against multiple states in the region in relation to claims arising out of the banking, construction, mining and telecommunications industries. He also has advised clients in relation to commercial arbitrations arising out of investments in this region. Ms Iuliana Iancu

Iuliana Iancu is Counsel at Hanotiau & van den Berg in Brussels, a firm she joined in 2012. She has acted as arbitral secretary or assistant to tribunals in a number of high-stakes, high-value and complex international investment and commercial arbitrations, both ad hoc and under a variety of arbitration rules, spanning various industry sectors (banking, energy and natural resources, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, M&A). Mrs BETSY IFEANYI

Betsy Ifeanyi, born July 2nd 1989, in Nigeria, is a lady whose dream as a child was to become a legal practitioner. Her journey is marked by dedication and a mind for justice.

Betsy’s passion for justice fueled her ambition to become a lawyer to serve justice and defend the weak. She acquired a Bachelor’s degree in Law and further attended the Nigerian Law School.

Upon graduating, Betsy embarked on her legal career at a prestigious law firm in the City of Abuja. Specializing in Litigation, Property and Corporate Law, she quickly rose through the ranks and was made the head of chambers because of her intellect and sound legal skills.

In 2022, Betsy started her own law firm, where she has championed a lot of cases and has a high success rate in negotiations and out of court dispute resolution for high-profile cases, and also earned a reputation for her strategic thinking and persuasive courtroom presence.

Dimitrios Ioannidis is a partner of Roach, Ioannidis & Megaloudis LLC. and counsel to the Consulate General of Greece in Boston. He practices in the areas of international business transactions, civil litigation in trial and appellate courts in Massachusetts. He oversaw various high profile cases providing litigation intelligence gathering, corporate investigations, asset recovery, due diligence and global business intelligence in many countries. Has completed investigations for large financial institutions; was a consultant to U.S. security firms on projects including the 2004 Olympic Games. He served as a consultant to a U.S. security company on a bid with the U.S. State Department for a multi-million contract in Europe and was retained as an expert witness on several cases, including a case for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Boston and a U.K. banking institution, where he testified in London. Ms Anna Isfort

Anna is a PHD candidate in the field of commercial arbitration and a research assistant at the Noerr arbitration department in Berlin. She was an intern at the ICC Arbitration Court in Paris after graduating from Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. She has been a Mootie and Coach for the Bucerius Vis Moot team and participated as an arbitrator in the past years.

Mr Tim Isler

Tim Isler is a Swiss qualified lawyer and works as an Associate for rothorn legal in their Zurich offices. He advises and represents clients in complex and cross-border disputes including international arbitrations, before Swiss courts, and in pre-trial negotiations. He has a special focus on contract and commercial law, and construction and sports disputes. Prior to joining rothorn legal, Tim Isler was a legal intern at Courts in Basel (Court of Appeal Basel-Stadt and Criminal Court Basel-Stadt) and at Schellenberg Wittmer in Zurich. Ms Iryna Ivanova

Since graduating, Barbora has been working for SOUKENÍK - ŠTRPKA law firm in Bratislava, Slovakia, firstly as a junior associate and after passing the Slovak Bar exam as an associate. In her practice, she focuses primarily on litigation and arbitration.
Barbora has extensive experience in advising clients in commercial disputes. She also specializes in issues related to public procurement and liability for damages caused in the exercise of public authority.

Mr Eric Ives

Eric Ives is an Associate in the International Arbitration Group at White & Case LLP. His practice focuses on investment and commercial arbitration and complex commercial disputes. He first joined the Columbia Law School Willem C. Vis Moot team in 2016 as a 1L on the briefs in the 24th Moot, helping his team win the Eric E. Bergsten Prize for Claimant's Memorial that year. He then competed in the oral rounds in the 25th Moot as a 2L where his team advanced to the Round of 8 and he earned an Honorable Mention for his oral advocacy. Ms Shobana Iyer

Shobana is a practicing barrister with over 20 years of commercial and corporate experience in dispute resolution and compliance. Ms Rishika Jain

Rishika Jain is currently working with the Legal Team as a Corporate Legal Analyst at Ambev (AB InBev Group) in Stockholm, Sweden. She is an Advocate & Legal Consultant enrolled with the Bar Council of India. She had worked as an Associate with the Dispute Resolution Team of a multi-disciplinary law firm, named Numen Law Offices in Delhi, India. Ms Yashasvi Jain

Yashasvi is an Indian-qualified international dispute resolution lawyer with four years of experience. She is pursuing a Masters in Transnational Arbitration and Dispute Settlement (TADS) from SciencesPo, Paris. Before joining the TADS LLM, she worked with MRP Advisory, a Dubai-based law firm in its international arbitration practice. She has advised clients for construction contracts being executed and governed by common law and civil law jurisdictions. She has briefed KCs and liaised with lawyers from France, Nepal, Oman, UAE, the UK, and the Netherlands on cross-border arbitrations administered by the best arbitration institutions. Previously, she has worked with a retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India, also a renowned arbitrator pan India. She has also worked as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Supreme Court of India. Mrs Nadja Jaisli

Nadja Jaisli co-heads Bär & Karrer's arbitration practice and specializes in international commercial arbitration and litigation. She has extensive experience in representing clients before Swiss courts and in international arbitrations (both ad hoc and institutional, primarily ICC and Swiss Rules), involving a wide array of matters. She has gained particular experience in the banking and finance, the pharmaceutical and the transportation industries and handled complex disputes arising from M&A transactions, joint ventures and shareholders' agreements, license and supply agreements as well as inheritance disputes. Ms Tharushi Jayarathne

Tharushi Jayarathne, a promising commercial law practitioner from Sri Lanka, holds an LLB from the University of London and a Bachelor's in Business and Entrepreneurship from the University of Northampton. Mr Thomas John

Thomas is an independent international mediator, and arbitrator and legal consultant. He is also the Director of the IBA-VIAC CDRC Vienna, the world's most prestigious mediation moot competition, which uses the Willem C Vis Moot Problem for its mediations. Tom has 20 years of experience in assisting parties, counsels, states, and international organisations with (online-) resolving their international commercial, corporate, investment, construction, shipping, sports, employment, and inter-state disputes. Thomas won the Vis Moot in 2000 (U of Queensland) and has marked memoranda and served as Vis arbitrator on several occasions.

Mr Julian Juhasz

Julian is currently researching on framework agreements and the CISG for his PhD thesis. In addition, he is working as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Basel (Chair of Prof. Dr. Ulrich G. Schroeter). Julian has previously participated and coached in the Vis Moot for the University of Basel. He is part of the Vindobona Journal's editorial team.

Mr Nick Jung

Nick Jung works as research assistant at the Chair of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Stamm at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) in Germany. He participated at the 25th Vis Moot and is coach of the FAU Vis Moot team. He studied law at FAU, University College Cork (UCC) and Siberian Federal University (SFU). He holds a German and Irish law degree. He is a PhD candidate and researches at the interface between insolvency and corporate law.
