An enthusiast of arbitration law, with inclination towards all things states public and private international law, am a masters in law graduate with extensive research experience. I am an alumnus of Trinity College, Dublin, having been vested with scholarship for completing my studies. I have published articles in notable journals with repute such as the Indian Journal of Air and Space Laws, and have undertaken distance learning courses to expand and develop my horizon of learning. I have interned in Indian law firms such as L & L Partners (formerly Luthra and Luthra) which specialize in dispute resolution services such as arbitration and mediation to its clientele which include state authorities and private parties, with that in mind, coupled with academic exposure to UNCITRAL Model Codes, Alternative Dispute Resolution Clinical Course, I was given a push to purse a career in arbitration, and towards achieving that goal, I have written my LLM thesis focusing on fragmented relationship between International Investment Law regime and human rights. I am of the firm opinion that a career in commercial arbitration, and particularly those engaging state has a wider implication for the regulatory autonomy, and investment activities, and affect on human rights is a natural consequence. As a participant of moot court competition during my undergraduate studies, I was infused with willingness to learn from defeat in mock trials, moot courts, and model mediation and client counselling, and to further sharpen my edge of negotiation, and ability to apply laws, rules and regulations to the facts of the cases. I believe the opportunity to judge arbitration moot, would help me apply the skills I learned so far to thee moot problems engaging real life investment dispute resolution cases.

Mr Jakob Braun

During my studies in Vienna I developed a strong passion for Moot Courts and took part in three Moots, however not yet in the Vis Moot. After graduating I moved to Basel to work as a Teaching and Research Assistant. As part of my work I had the great honour of being Coach for the Basel Vis Moot Team for two years. For me, this meant shifting positions: Instead of being in the spotlight myself, I tried to nuture and develop young talents. Not only was this my first coaching experience but also in a field and specifically in a Moot I had not yet gained any insights into so far. Besides all the obvious rewarding aspects as learning a lot about International Commercial Law and gaining insights into International Arbitration practice and getting to know people from various cultures and legal backgrounds, I found working with the teams, especially during the Oral Phase most rewarding. It was during one of those countless pleadings in spring when I decided to come back to the Vis as Arbitrator. I really want to stay within the Vis Community and start my next chapter as an Arbitrator.
