Mr Luuk Uilenbroek

Ms Simona Valkova
Simona Valkova works as an independent tribunal secretary specialising in international commercial and investment arbitration. She has over five years of experience in the international arbitration field gained as an arbitral assistant to a leading international arbitrator, as well as with the international arbitration team of a leading US firm based in London. Simona has worked on cases under a variety of institutional and ad hoc rules (including the ICC, HKIAC, LCIA, SIAC, SCC, ICSID and UNCITRAL Rules). In addition, she is a Teaching Fellow at the School of International Arbitration, Queen Mary University of London.
Simona participated in the 23rd edition of the Vis Moot as a member (oralist) of the LSE team. She is presently coaching the Queen Mary Vis Team (2022-2023).
Dr Faidon Varesis
Faidon is a qualified attorney practicing in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as representing clients in international transactions. He has completed his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge on "Regulation of Arbitral Jurisdiction: a Private International Law Proposal".
Aside from his practice, he has taught at Cambridge, Oxford, Milan, and Athens. His research interests focus on International Commercial Arbitration and Conflict of Laws. He holds an M.Jur. (Distinction) from the University of Oxford having already completed an LL.M. in Civil law (Summa cum Laude) and an LL.B. (Summa cum Laude) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece.
He is currently a teaching fellow at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a research assistant at the University of Oxford while acting as coach of the University of Cambridge

Mr Lucas Viana
My name is Lucas Viana. I have a law degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where I graduated in July, 2022. I currently work as a Lawyer within the dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration practice of Mattos Filho Advogados, in Brazil.
I had my first experience with the Vis Moot in 2019, when I participated as a competitor in the 26th Edition. I was an oralist in the 28th Edition of the Vis Moot and have been acting as a coach for my university since. This year I will be attending the Vis Moot once again as a coach.
In the 30th Vis Moot, I hope to provide valuable feedback to the students and contribute to the high level competition that the Vis Moot is acknowledged for.

My name is María Vicari, I am 24 years old and I have a Law Degree. I have recently graduated from the National University of Rosario, Argentina. I have participated in many arbitration Moots, both as a mootie and as coach. Particularly, I was a UNR team mootie in the 28th edition of the Vis Moot, and coach in the 29th Vis edition. I am actually a Vis Moot coach for the UNR Team, and I really look forward to acting as an arbitrator besides being a team coach.

Mr Giovanni Viglino
Giovanni is a PhD student in International law at Bocconi University.
His research project focuses on the procedural status of third parties before international investment tribunals. His research interests span from public international law towards law and economics. He favours, where possible, an interdisciplinary approach to research.
In 2020, he graduated from the MIDS in Geneva (LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement) with the dissertation “The recognition and enforcement of exclusive and conflicting choice of forum agreements” under the supervision of Professor Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler.
In 2019, he graduated summa cum laude from the Law School of the University of Milan (Master of Laws) with the dissertation “Arbitration and third parties: towards a new notion of consensus?”
During the academic years, he participated to multiple summer schools and legal competitions, among them the Arbitration Academy in Paris and the Willem C. Vis Moot.
He has since then been coaching the University of Milan Vis Moot team.

Antonia Vogt is currently pursuing her PhD in the field of hate speech and internet law at the University of Osnabrück after completing her first state exam 2021 and studying law at the University of Bonn. Besides, she worked as a research assistant in the field of IT and privacy law at a German law firm for two years and at the Institute for German and International Civil Procedure Law at the University of Bonn for one year, where she coached the University of Bonn's Vis Moot team of 2020/21. The team also participated in the 18th Vis East Moot.
She herself participated in the 25th Vis Moot Court 2017/18 on behalf of the University of Bonn.

Mr Petr Vošahlík
Petr is a Partner at BBH, attorneys-at-law, and an arbitrator. The core of his work consists of advising clients in commercial disputes. Dr Solvejg Sonja Voss
Having participated in the Vis Moot both as a team member in 2007 and as a coach in 2010, Sonja decided to work in the field of international commercial law. She has been working as a corporate lawyer for several international companies mainly in the automotive industry. Her focus as an inhouse legal counsel is dispute resolution (litigation and arbitration), M & A as well as contract drafting. Since 2021 she works as a Senior Legal Counsel at LEONI Bordnetz-Systeme GmbH.

Professor Dr Janet Walker
Janet Walker, CM, CD, JD, DPhil (Oxon), FCIArb, is a Chartered Arbitrator at Toronto Arbitration Chambers, Atkin Chambers in London, and Sydney Arbitration Chambers. She has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator and chair in ad hoc arbitrations and arbitrations administered by the ICC, ICDR, DIAC, HKIAC, KCAB, LCIA, PCA and SIAC in a variety of seats.
Janet is co-chair of CanArbWeek, an executive editor of the Canadian Journal of Commercial Arbitration and co-author of Commercial Arbitration in Australia (3d ed). Mr Mark Walter
Mark Walter is a lawyer specializing in commercial dispute resolution, trade policy reform and assessment, and drafting and implementation of commercial law. Prior to joining DAI, Mark was Singapore Director of the U.S.-APEC Technical Assistance to Advance Regional Integration Project, leading legal and regulatory reform work across the region, and to help develop policy priorities for upcoming APEC hosts, Papua New Guinea, Chile, and Malaysia. Prior to the APEC program, Mark was Managing Director for Nathan Associates’ Legal and Regulatory Practice in Washington, D.C., where he directed U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) reform programs. Previously, Mark was Chief of Party on the USAID-funded Doha Project for World Trade Organization Accession in Ethiopia, and on its redesigned successor project, the Ethiopia WTO Accession Plus Program from 2006 and 2008. From 2008 to 2011, he led the business-enabling environment component of a USAID private sector development program in Kosovo. Gretta Walters is Counsel at Chaffetz Lindsey LLP in New York. She represents a diverse range of domestic and international clients in commercial and investment disputes in arbitration and state and federal courts. Gretta also has experience as Legal Counsel at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and a Visiting Lecturer at Stockholm University. Linda Maria Wayner is an attorney, professor, and diversity specialist. She specializes in commercial litigation, employment disputes, and international arbitration. She began her career at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP in its litigation and arbitration group, and then served New York City's Mayor Michael R. Hon Prof Dr Irene Welser
Irene Welser is the Senior Partner of the Viennese law firm CERHA HEMPEL where she heads the Contentious Business Department. Mr Friedrich Weyland
Friedrich Weyland studied at the University of Tübingen, Germany. He has been with Gleiss Lutz since the beginning of 2022. Friedrich advises on international commercial and investment arbitration, transnational disputes and transactions, as well as domestic arbitration and court proceedings.
Mr Martin Wiebecke
Martin Wiebecke has been practising in international arbitration for more than 30 years.
He has acted as counsel, sole arbitrator, party-appointed arbitrator or chairman in more than 220 international arbitrations under all major institutional rules and in ad-hoc proceedings. As counsel, Mr Wiebecke has represented Swiss and foreign companies as well as public entities in international arbitration proceedings in Switzerland and elsewhere.
As arbitrator, he has recently acted primarily as chairman, including in a number of multi-billion USD disputes. He also has an arbitration-related court practice (annulment and execution proceedings) and mediation experience.

Ms Katharina Winkler
Katharina was a member of the first Vis Moot Team from the University of Leipzig and participated in the 26th Vis Moot. Afterwards she coached the Leipzig Team of the 27th Vis Moot. Katharina graduated from law school at the beginning of 2022 and is currently working as a research assistant in the field of civil law and civil procedure law at the University of Leipzig.
Jur Dr Susan-Gale WINTERMUTH
Susan-Gale WINTERMUTH holds a juris doctorate degree from the United States, where she practiced law for over 18 years, both in a government capacity and later in private practice, before turning to university teaching. Her regular teaching university is the China EU School of Law at the China University for Pollical Science and Law, Beijing, where she teaches during one semester each year. She also teaches a module at the Stockholm School of Economics, Latvia and has been guest lecturer in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, India, and Indonesia. Her major focus is international private law and arbitration.

Almira Wissenberg graduated from St. Petersburg University in 2015 and obtained her LL.M. degree from McGeorge School of Law in 2016. Mr Hannes Wolff
Studied law at the University of Passau after training and working as a ship mechanic with Hamburg Süd, Hamburg. Participated in the Vis Moot in 2015/16. Hannes is a research assistant at the Chair of Constitutional and Administrative Law, Public International Law, European and International Economic Law of Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Dederer at the University of Passau and in this function also co-coaches the Passau Jessup Team. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis in the field of bioethics and biotechnology law.
He has been working with Kravets & Kravets, a small Cuxhaven based law firm specialised in commercial, maritime and business law, for a number of years and is certified as a translator for the english language by the Regional Court of Hannover. He currently serves as a legal clerk at the Higher Regional Court of Munich (Passau Office of the Public Prosecutor).
Dr Reinmar Wolff
Dr. Reinmar Wolff is a lawyer and Assistant Professor at the University of Marburg where he also heads the Vis Moot Court team. Dr. Wolff regularly acts as arbitrator in commercial arbitrations under various rules. He regularly lectures and publishes on arbitration and other topics. Dr. Wolff is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
Dr Venus Valentina Wong
Venus Valentina Wong is partner and attorney at-law with Wolf Theiss, Vienna, Austria. Having studied law and sinology in Vienna, Amsterdam and Taipei and being fluent in German, English, and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Valentina has practised international arbitration for almost 20 years. Florian is one of the co-founders of the Leipzig University Vis Moot Team and the Former President of the Leipzig Moot Association. He participated in the 26th Vis Moot and coached the Leipzig teams of the 27th and 28th Vis Moot. Currently, he is the coach of the team from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda. Florian works as a Research Assistant at Allen & Overy and writes his PhD thesis on international arbitration law. She has an outstanding reputation in the litigation funding industry, where she originates, underwrites, and monitors funding in various litigation sectors including international and commercial arbitration, insolvency, class actions and global litigation matters as well as law firm and corporate portfolio arrangements and defense funding. Prior to joining Bench Walk Advisors, Ayse worked as a Technical Manager in Arthur J Gallagher’s dispute resolution team where she worked with international law firms and litigation funders around the world to deliver funding and insurance solutions. Have participated in Vis Moot in 2020 as a team member, in Jessup 2021 as a team member, in Vis Moot 2022 as a coach and currently coaching the Riga Graduate School of Law Vis Moot team. Would like to deepen my involvement in the moot court community and arbitrating in Vienna is the next step. I am proficient in this year's case facts. At the same time, I would need to be there for the team I am currently coaching. Hence I can arbitrate 1-2 pleadings.
Ms Caroline Yersin
Caroline Yersin studied law at the University of Passau and in Michigan, US. With the team of the University of Passau she reached the quarterfinals in the 25th Vis Moot and coached the team in the 26th Vis Moot. She is working as lawyer and research assistant at an international law firm in Munich.

Ece Nur Yıldız worked as an associate in the top-tier dispute resolution department of Kolcuoglu Demirkan Kocakli Attorneys at Law. She is handled international arbitration and litigation matters as well as domestic commercial, employment, and criminal disputes.
Ms. Yıldız is a Fulbright Master’s Grant awardee in the international dispute resolution area and is prospected to complete her LL.M degree at Cornell Law School in the 2022-2023 academic year.
Ms. Yıldız has participated in the 27th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition as an oralist on behalf of her Alma Mater, Bilkent University Faculty of Law. She has acted as an arbitrator in several pre-moots in the 28th Vis Moot Competition.
Ms Deniz Yilmaz
I have currently finished my LLM in the course of Information Technologies and Intellectual Property Law in University of East Anglia(UEA). After completing my undergraduate degree in Law in Turkey, I did my 1-year legal mandatory training working as a legal intern in a law firm specialising in personal data protection and contracts law. After finishing my legal training I started practising as a licensed lawyer in Turkey. I am currently working in Fairwearther Law in the UK as a conveyancing assistant. During my studies in UEA, I was in the Vis Moot team as a participant in the 29th Vis Moot. As a team we have attended several pre-moots alongside the official moot. I was an oralist for the claimant in my team. I had a great experience last year and I have decided to participate as an arbitrator this year.
Mr Timo Ylikantola
Timo specializes in domestic and international dispute resolution, contract, construction, corporate and employment law matters as well as insolvency procedures.
Timo has advised and represented clients in institutional and ad hoc arbitration proceedings and before all the instances of the Finnish state courts in many complex disputes.
Timo has experience in arbitrating disputes under institutional arbitration rules such as the Rules of the Arbitration Institute of the Finland Chamber of Commerce, Arbitration Rules of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and the ICC Arbitration Rules and ad hoc arbitration under the Finnish Arbitration Act as well as enforcement procedures of the arbitral awards. Timo also acts as an arbitrator in institutional as well as ad hoc arbitrations.
In addition to his vast arbitration and litigation experience, Timo regularly advises Finnish and foreign companies in many domestic and international contractual and company law related arrangements and acts as a bankruptcy trustee.

Dr Hamid Younesi
Dr Hamid Younesi is an Assistant Professor of Law at University of York. He received an LLB with First Class Honours (Summa Cum Laude), and LLM in Private Law and LLM in International Business Law all with distinction (Summa Cum Laude) from National University of Iran (SBU). He also has LLM in International Oil and Gas Law & Policy from CEPMLP, University of Dundee (Distinction).
Dr Younesi holds a PhD in Law from York Law School, University of York; and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in international investment law and international arbitration. He was also a visiting scholar at the Peace Palace Library, The Hague, The Netherlands. His research interests span international business law, law of obligation, international investment law including the law of damages, international dispute settlement, complex contracts and international oil and gas law.
In addition, he has extensive experience, as practitioner in high-profile cases in the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), the Iran-US Claims Tribunal, and the International Court of Justice (ICJ), The Hague, The Netherlands. Graduated from Columbia University Law School in 1976. Recently retired after working at the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and U.S. Dept. of Justice for 38 years, specializing in competition law. I am working with the Loyola University of Chicago Vis Moot team and will act as an arbitrator at their pre-moot in February.

Dr Avi Zamir
Avi joined the Israel Bar Association in 1989. As a lawyer he engaged in various fields of Civil Law. He was appointed as a judge in 1998. He served at the Magistrate´s Court and the Tel Aviv District Court until his retirement in 2015, after 17 years on the bench. On both tribunals, he engaged in criminal and civil cases. Avi joined A. Gabrieli law firm in 2015 and has been involved in hundreds of civil mediation and arbitration proceedings since. He was a member of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA). Avi is currently a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) (mediation and arbitration committees). He holds LL.M (cum laude) from Tel Aviv University, Isreal - Northwestern University, USA joint public law program for senior executives and PhD (cum laude) from Pécs University, Hungary. Avi also teaches Constitutional and Administrative Law at Tel Aviv University.
Ms Agnieszka Zarowna
Agnieszka is an Associate in Hogan Lovells' International Arbitration Group in London, where she focuses her work on investment arbitration. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Agnieszka was an associate in a Warsaw-based law firm, representing clients in both international and domestic arbitrations, and serving as secretary to arbitral tribunals.
Agnieszka obtained her law degrees from the University of Warsaw, University of Poitiers and Harvard Law School. She is admitted to the New York bar and has completed her bar training in Poland.
While preparing her Ph.D. in public international law, she has been awarded scholarships and participated in various arbitration and public international law programs, including in The Hague, Paris, Düsseldorf and Milan. She has been successfully instructing student teams for the Willem C. Vis and FDI moot courts and she often serves as an arbitrator at these and various other competitions.
Mr Jonas Zaugg
Jonas Zaugg is a former Moot participant (25th) and has been the coach of the University of Lausanne since. Mr. Zaugg holds a Master in Law from the University of Lausanne, specialising in commercial law and legal theory. Mr. Zaugg is currently assistant to Professor Andrea Bonomi and PhD candidate at the University of Lausanne. Alongside his studies, Mr. Zaugg has worked in the field of health insurance claims against liable third parties for over five years. He is a native speaker of Swiss German, German and French, as well as a proficient English speaker.
Mr Moritz Zegowitz
Moritz is civil servant at the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection in Munich, Germany. From 2017 to 2022 he practised as attorney (Rechtsanwalt) at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's Dispute Resolution practice in Munich. Moritz practised as commercial litigator and advised national and international companies both in and out of court. Moritz obtained his bar exam (Second State Exam) in 2017 at the District Court of Münster, Germany. As trainee attorney he worked inter alia for the European Commission's Legal Service in Brussels dealing with Business Law. He obtained his degree in law (First State Exam) in 2014 after having studied at the University of Augsburg (Germany), the University of Passau (Germany) and Cardiff University (Wales, UK). Moritz participated himself in the XIX. Vis Moot 2011-2012 and has then acted as coach for the team of the University of Passau three times. He has arbitrated at numerous pre-moots since 2013 and at Vienna since 2015 until 2021.
Ms Eglė Zemlytė
Dr. Eglė Zemlytė is a lecturer at Private Law Department of the Law Faculty of Vilnius University. She teaches international commercial arbitration (in both Lithuanian and English) as well as law on civil procedure. Her research focuses on international arbitration, alternative dispute resolution and law on civil procedure. She is a co-author of the Commentary to the Law on Commercial Arbitration of the Republic of Lithuania and an author or co-author of various publications on arbitration and other dispute resolution methods. She has also been admitted to the bar of the Republic of Lithuania and has been practicing as the counsel in various arbitration and litigation cases for almost 15 years. She has represented Lithuanian and foreign companies in arbitration cases under various arbitration rules (SCC, ICC, LCIA, VCCA, UNCITRAL Rules) as well as in Lithuanian courts. Before joining a boutique law firm to focus on her career as an arbitrator she was an attorney-at-law at one of the biggest law firms in Lithuania. She regularly sits as arbitrator or chairs arbitrations under the rules of the Vilnius Court of Commercial Arbitration.
Mr Andrej Zerjal
Andrej Žerjal is a Lawyer at Race & Jarc Law Firm in Trieste (Italy), specializing in domestic and international contracts and litigation, with a particular emphasis on commercial matters. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Trieste and studied at the University of Vienna and Shanghai International Studies University as well. Besides, he acted also as a delegate at WIPO and at UNCITRAL.

Dr Tietie "Frank" Zhang
Dr Tietie “Frank” Zhang is a Senior Lecturer at the City Law School. Prior to joining City, he held the post of Lecturer in Corporate and Commercial Law at the University of Sheffield School of Law. Dr Zhang’s main research areas include international commercial arbitration, international trade law, and the Chinese legal system. He teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Zhang received his law degrees from both China and the US. Before joining academia, he worked in a leading Chinese law firm in Beijing, practicing in the field of international commercial dispute resolution. Alicja is a Polish qualified advocate (adwokat) and an Of Counsel with Queritius, a highly specialized law firm focused on international dispute resolution related principally to Central and Eastern Europe.
She is combining her attorney practice with an academic career as a lecturer and Academic Coordinator for the IDR LL.M. at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in Germany.
Alicja is involved in diverse initiatives for legal professionals, including mentoring and recent speaking engagements in Warsaw, Berlin, Barcelona, Vienna, Riga, Paris, and Prague. She is a member of the Arbitration Commission of ICC Poland and acts as the ICC YAAF Representative for Europe. Alicja is a mootie herself and has coached and arbitrated numerous moot court teams. She is also the Co-Chair for the Conference and Events team of the Moot Alumni Association (MAA).
Mr Dominik Zilsdorf
After having participated in the 26th Vis Moot in 2018/2019 for the University of Bonn, Dominik Zilsdorf stayed involved in the moot community by becoming board member of the Bonn Moot Association. He then further expanded his knowledge in private international law and arbitration law by being student assistant at the Institute for Private International and Comparative Law in Bonn. In 2021/2022, Dominik Zilsdorf returned to the 29th Vis Moot as coach for the University of Bonn and worked as research assistant for litigation and arbitration at a law firm in Cologne from 2021-2023. He is currently writing his PhD thesis in the field of international commercial arbitration and is employed as research assistant at the Insititute of German and International Civil Procedure Law at the University of Bonn.
Ms Vanessa Zimmermann de Meireles
Vanessa specializes in international commercial arbitration, complex disputes, business and construction law.
Since 2016, Vanessa works as Foreign Associate at the dispute resolution boutique Borris Hennecke Kneisel in Cologne, Germany. She acts as arbitrator, counsel and secretary to arbitral tribunals in international arbitration proceedings conducted in English, Portuguese, Spanish and German. She has acted in both ad hoc and institutional proceedings held under the ICC and DIS arbitration rules. Her practice focuses on disputes regarding cross-border M&A and sales transactions, mainly in the sectors of construction, renewable energy, pharmaceutical and oil industry.

Mr Tobias Zuberbühler
Tobias Zuberbühler is an independent arbitrator and counsel with over 25 years of experience in dispute resolution. He has acted as arbitrator and counsel in more than 80 international and domestic arbitration proceedings under both ad hoc and institutional rules (ICC, Swiss Rules, DIS, VIAC, CEPANI, HKIAC).

Mr Adly Zulfadhly Zulkefly
Adly graduated with a LLB (Hons) and Diploma in Syarie Legal Practice (DSLP) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He was called to the Malaysian Bar and admitted to the roll of Advocates and Solicitors in March 2020. During these times, he was involved with mainly litigation and arbitration work. Adly subsequently undertook his pupilage at Azmi & Associates where he was trained to handle complex files. Furthermore, he has also acted as counsel for banks and government bodies in relation to construction disputes and other commercial claims. Adly was a member of, i.e., the IIUM Jessup Mooting Competition (2014), Novice Arbitration Mooting Competition (2015), 1st Pre-Moot Vis Arbitration Mooting Competition (2015) and Linklater’s Hong Kong Competition Law Mooting Competition (2018). Mr David Zwier
David Zwier is an associate attorney at Yoder Ainlay Ulmer & Buckingham, LLP. His diverse professional and personal backgrounds allow him to nimbly address both the legal and practical needs of clients. Before joining Yoder Ainlay, David was an attorney with Marcus & Shapira, LLP, a boutique litigation firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Prior to becoming an attorney, David served as an AmeriCorps fellow in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania through the Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience. In that capacity, he worked with the Oakland Planning and Development Corporation, a community-based nonprofit serving four Pittsburgh neighborhoods. He continued there for several years as a program manager before attending law school, gaining creative problem-solving skills ranging from emergency plumbing repairs to testimony at public hearings before City of Pittsburgh commissions, and donor engagement.
