Mr. Palmer practices commercial litigation, including international litigation and arbitration, and white collar criminal defense. He is a former partner and Chair of the International Litigation and Arbitration Group at Steel Hector & Davis LLP. He also served as Deputy Chief of the Economic Crimes Section of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida and as the International Affairs Coordinator for that office. In 2010/2011 I participated in the Willem C Vis Moot as a member of the Vienna Team . After I finished law school I started working in a small law firm that specialises in criminal and civil law. From 2014 to 2017 I worked for one of the leading commercial law firms in Vienna as an associate in the Practice area "Dispute Resolution", with my main focus on commercial litigation. For over 10 years I have been practising in the fields of litigation and arbitration focussing on corporate and commercial disputes.

Terrance (“Terry”) Reed is a member of the Virginia law firm of Lankford & Reed PLLC. In May, 2015, Mr. Reed obtained a jury acquittal of the pricing director of a maritime company in Puerto Rico federal court in what the Justice Department claimed was “one of the largest domestic price fixing conspiracies ever investigated by the United States.” In August, 2015, Mr. Reed co-authored the American Bar Association’s Supreme Court brief supporting the right to use legal assets for criminal defense counsel. In November, 2015, Mr. Reed obtained the voluntary dismissal of a bribery conspiracy indictment allegedly involving $59 million in Iraq reconstruction contracts. Mr. Reed has long represented the claims of the American diplomats taken hostage by Iran for which Congress enacted compensation in December, 2015. Mr. Reed has represented countries, companies, and individuals in numerous commercial disputes. An American Law Institute member since 2003, Mr. Reed served as a law clerk to Judges John Sirica of the District of Columbia, and Warren Ferguson of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in California. I participated in the Vis Moot for the University of Tübingen in 2018/2019 and stayed on as a student coach for the Tübingen team in 2019/2020. I finished my German first state exam (JD equivalent) in 2022 as the first of 810 graduates in the state of Baden-Württemberg and completed an MJur at the University of Oxford. I am currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Cologne with Professor Berger. In my thesis, I aim to delineate the rights and duties of the participants to a mediation proceeding (parties and mediator) under German law while also keeping a legal comparative perspective. For that, I occasionally make forays into English law.

My research interests lie in corporate law, conflict of laws and ADR. I have given lectures on the CISG at the University of Tübingen.

Before joining the Department of Legal Studies at CEU, I was a legal advisor in arbitral tribunals of infrastructure and public procurement governed by the Colombian lex arbitri and the arbitration rules of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá. I also have hands-on experience in the legislative work and research activities of UNCITRAL, particularly in the areas of arbitration and dispute settlement.

Regarding my academic work, I co-authored a textbook on notarial law and have published several research articles in the fields of international arbitration, civil procedure and public procurement. My LLM thesis focused on the interpretation and scope of article 4 of the CISG, with the aim of determining which validity-related issues fall within the CISG’s scope and which are left to the law applicable pursuant to the rules of private international law.

My name is Håvard Sanne-Halvorsen. I recently completed a five-year Master of Laws program at the University of Oslo, with a strong academic record and a particular focus on international commercial law, dispute resolution, investment law, and arbitration. I currently work as an International Arbitration intern at WilmerHale (London) from January-April 2026.

In 2025 I submitted a dissertation in which explores the international law principle of systemic integration in investment arbitration, looking at integration of human rights and environmental law in disputes involving Indigenous Peoples.

I participated in the 31st edition of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court. I later gained an internship at the at the SCC Arbitration Institute in Stockholm, where I contributed legal memoranda for the Board of Directors, conducted sanctions and ownership control checks, and translated the arbitration rules to Norwegian. I have also completed an internship at a tier-one Norwegian law firm in commercial law and disputes.

Ingeborg Schwenzer is Dean of Swiss International Law School and Professor emerita of Private Law at the University of Basel, Switzerland. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at Bond University, Gold Coast, Australia, and has been an adjunct professor at City University, Hong Kong, and at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. She has published numerous books and more than 200 articles in the fields of law of obligations (contracts, tort law and unjust enrichment, sales law both domestic and international), commercial arbitration as well as family law. In particular, she is the editor and main contributor of the world's leading Commentary on the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) (4th edition, Oxford, OUP: 2016) and its German, Spanish, Portuguese and Turkish counterparts. Ingeborg Schwenzer is the chair of the CISG Advisory Council. She is also active in all areas of legal practice. Jae Myoung Shin (Jay) is Head of the SIAC North East Asia Office, where he leads SIAC’s outreach and business development efforts across Korea, Japan, Russia, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe. Ramona Sorgenfrei is a Managing Associate in the Orrick International Arbitration team in Dusseldorf, and a doctoral candidate at the chair of Prof. Dr. Schmidt-Kessel at the University of Bayreuth. At the end of 2009 Dimitar started as a senior lawyer at one of the internation and reputable law firms in CEE - Peterka and Partners and has been appointed lecturer in law of obligations/civil law at the University of Sofia. Within the time period between 2012- 2017 he was co-leading the Bulgarian branch of Peterka and Partners covering the area of civil and commercial law and arbitration.
2017 I have established my own law firm focussed on commercial disputes and arbitration.
In 2016 he has established the law firm Punev and Stoimenov and was elected as arbitrator and member of the Presidium of the Permanent Arbitration Court at the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry alongside Prof. Broedermann and Prof. Paschke from the Hamburg University.

Assoc Prof Dr Ferenc Szilágyi

Ferenc Szilágyi has been a Junior Assistant Professor from January 2011 to August 2017, an Assistant Professor from September 2017 to August 2024, and, since September 2024, an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, Department of Private Law, Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest. Dr. Szilágyi earned his law degree from Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest and defended his PhD thesis at the University of Osnabrück (Germany), focusing on the assignment of future rights to performance (claims) under German and Hungarian law, compared with the DCFR.

His main areas of expertise include contract law, property law, and private international law. From 2006 to 2009, he was a research fellow on the project developing the "Draft Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) – Principles, Definitions, and Model Rules of European Private Law." Evaristo Treviño Berlanga graduated from law school from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City (2005).
