Mr Aniel Pahladsingh

Aniel Pahladsingh studied Dutch law at Leiden University and then worked in various positions at the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND).

In the period of 2007-2021 he worked as an EU lawyer at the Dutch Council of State. He is the Secretary of the Commission on European Union Law at the Council, with coordinating tasks in the field of Union law, including questions on the EU Charter and the implementation of Union law into national law. Since November 2021 Aniel works as a senior legal advisor at the Legal and Litigation Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs in the area of EU law and international law.

Since 2010 he has been deputy judge at the district court of Rotterdam, where he settles disputes within administrative law and since 2021 he has been deputy judge at the district court of Amsterdam, where he settles disputes within extradiction cases.

In 2015 he was seconded to the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg for a six-month term as an intern in the cabinet of the Dutch judge. He was also seconded in 2016 as senior lawyer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (the Legal Affairs Division of European Law) in the context of the Dutch Presidency of the European Union. There he was charged with asylum files, migration (free movement of persons) and criminal law.

Between 2017 and 2021, Aniel was appointed as a deputy member at the Human Rights Committee and was engaged in disputes about human rights protection.

As author of the English annotation bundle The Charter and the Court of Justice of the European Union, notable cases from 2016-2018, Aniel is an expert in the field of human rights protection in Europe for both legislation and case law. Aniel has written several legal books and articles in Dutch and English. His books are about the European (migration) policy with a particular interest in human rights.

Mr ALEXANDER MATHAI PAIKADAY

Alexander Mathai Paikaday is a Legal Associate at the New Delhi office of Paikeday & Paikeday Lawyers and enrolled as an Advocate before the Bar Council of Delhi. Dr Katerina Palkovska

Katerina is a junior lawyer in a boutique law firm focusing on International Commercial Arbitration as well as a Ph.D. student at the Department of International and European Law, Faculty of Law, Masaryk University. She participated in the 26th Vis Moot and also in the FDI Moot. Katerina studied in Israel, Norway and in Sydney, Australia where she also gained practical experience in an international arbitration center. Prof Dario Simone Palmiotti

Dario is a Ph.D. Candidate in Arbitration & Dispute Resolution (Arb&DR) at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He holds an LL.M. from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution (IADR). He further specialised in arbitration by attending several arbitration courses such as the widely recognised Arbitration Academy in Paris (2019) and the Hague Academy of International Law (2021).

He has significant experience at arbitral institutions such as internships at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC). Currently, he is working as Assistant Counsel at the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC), primarily assisting legal staff in their everyday duties.

He is admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) and several institutes of arbitrators in the Asia-Pacific region. He is listed in the Panel of Arbitrators of the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) and the Centre for International Alternative Dispute Resolution (CiADR).

Since 2017, he has actively advised and coached different universities. He also participates regularly as an arbitrator in competitions held each year in Vienna and Hong Kong.

Louise Parsons is an Associate Professor and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law at Bond University, Australia. She has completed a PhD in Law (Bond University) and a Master of Laws (University of South Africa). Before moving to Australia from South Africa in 2006, she gained extensive experience in international commercial transactions as in-house counsel for the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) and as Commercial Specialist at SASOL. Mr. Muhammad Essa Parwani has completed his Bachelor of Law and Political Science from Kardan University. Prof Vladimir Pavic

Vladimir Pavic is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, where he teaches Private International Law, Arbitration, Competition Law and International Business Law. He was a recurrent Visiting Professor at University of Graz and Central European University.

Dr Natalia Perova

Dr Natalia Perova is a Russian-speaking English barrister and international arbitrator dealing with international commercial disputes in English courts and international arbitration. Professor Dr Niek Peters

Professor Dr Niek Peters is an expert in the field of (international) arbitration, both commercial and investment. He has been counsel in numerous arbitrations and court proceedings, governed by various procedural and substantive laws, relating to diverse legal issues (e.g. M&A, shareholder disputes, commercial contracts, investments, director’s liability and professional liability) and sectors (e.g. energy, construction, engineering and IT). F. Peter Phillips is an arbitrator and mediator in the New York City area. Mr Felipe Pietrini

Felipe Pietrini is a Mexican lawyer with more than 10 years of professional experience on International, Administrative, Trade, Commercial and Intellectual Property Law. He participated as a student of Universidad Panamericana Mexico City in the 16th Willem C. Vis Moot (2008-2009). Later on, he qualified as a lawyer in 2010, completed an specialty in Financial Law Institutions in 2011 and worked for the Mexican Federal Government for a decade where, among other tasks he defended Mexico in some investor-State disputes and then in State-to-State disputes under the World Trade Organization's rules as a Geneva-based commercial diplomat and legal counsel.

In 2019 he left the Mexican Government and studied a full-time LLM in International Business Law at King's College London. In 2020 he participated in the Foreign Direct Investment Moot as part of the King's College team. After eight years living in Europe he came back to Mexico and started coaching the team of his university (Universidad Panamericana Mexico City) for the 28th and 29th Willem C. Vis Moots.

In late 2021 he joined the Latin American law firm BBGS Abogados, which has offices in Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru. He currently works there as a corporate and transactional lawyer.

Mr Tobias Pinkel

Tobias Pinkel is a lecturer (Lehrbeauftragter) at the University of Bremen and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg and researcher at the Centre of European Law and Politics in the fields of conflicts of law, comparative private law and European and international contract law. He participated in the Vis Moot 2007/08 and is the coach of the Vis Moot team of the University of Bremen since 2017.

Mr Iuri Reis

I have obtained my Law Degree in 2011 at PUC-SP, in São Paulo. Six months later, I commenced an 18-month postgraduate course in Business Law at FGV-SP. I then undertook a 2.5-year Master’s degree in Civil Law at PUC-SP. I can proudly say that my master’s dissertation, on the topic of material damages, was published as a book. In 2018, following the approval of a new Procedure Code in Brazil, I completed another 18-month postgraduate course in Civil Procedural Law at FGV-SP. My latest academic achievement happened in 2022 when I concluded an LLM in Comparative International Disputes Resolution at the Queen Mary University of London with Distinction in my dissertation and Merits overall.

Ms Pia Ruggieri

Pia is an associate at the Arbitration and Litigation practice of Cuatrecasas, focusing in international arbitration in its Santiago de Chile office. Before joining Cuatrecasas, Pia worked as an Assistant Legal Counsel at the Permanent Court of Arbitration and interned at the ICC Paris Headquarters. Mr Marco Seregni

I am an Italian lawyer practising international arbitration at De Berti Jacchia in Milan, and I have been one of the coaches of the Bocconi Vis Moot Team since 2018. I graduated in law magna cum laude at Bocconi University in 2018 and I attended the Penn State Law LLM Program in the 2016 fall term. I participated and pleaded in the 25th VIS Moot representing Bocconi University, where we won a honorable mention for the memorandum for Claimant.

Mr UDIT SETH

Udit Seth is arguing counsel and advocate appearing predominantly before the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, and Arbitration Tribunals. His practice focuses on domestic and international arbitration, commercial litigation, and policy litigation. He has assisted the Attorney General of India, Solicitor General of India and other Senior Advocates (akin to QC) in several sensitive cases and complex arbitrations. Having several reported judgements to his credit, he has immensely contributed to the jurisprudence of Arbitration Law in India. He has also sat as arbitrator in a variety of matters, as sole and party appointed arbitrator.
He completed his primary law degree from India in 2014. Ms Avni Sharma

Avni Sharma is an Indian qualified advocate, whose practice before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court is focussed on commercial litigation and international commercial arbitration, before tribunals seated in India and abroad. Miss Aayushi Singh

Aayushi Singh completed a double degree in International arbitration from the National University of Singapore, Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and University of Geneva. She is a recipient of a full scholarship by the Aga Khan Development Network (2018-2019) for her higher studies. She also received a full scholarship to pursue the Austrian Arbitration Academy, 2019 offered by the Sommerhochschule, University of Vienna.

She pursued her seminal thesis at NUS under the supervision of Prof. M Sornarajah on the topic “Transparency in the Asian arbitration regime – the way ahead.” Her thesis in Geneva was titled “Fragmentation of BITs and the scope for multilateral convergence” and was supervised by Prof. Fuad Zarbiyev.

She has worked as a trainee for two reputed Swiss arbitration firms. While pursuing her LL.M. in Singapore, she worked as an attachee with Rajah and Tann and Allen and Gledhill, two of Singapore’s Big 4 firms. Ms Ramona Sorgenfrei

Ramona Sorgenfrei is an Associate at the Clifford Chance Litigation & Dispute Resolution team in Dusseldorf focusing on IP related disputes, and a doctoral candidate at the chair of Prof. Dr. Schmidt-Kessel at the University of Bayreuth. I am a practising lawyer before the High Court of Delhi (a constitutional court), district courts in Delhi and other fora & tribunals, currently working in the Dispute Resolution team of a law firm as an Associate. I graduated law school only last year, and have since been fortunate to appear before numerous arbitral tribunals in domestic and international commercial arbitration matters, both ad hoc and institutional. I participated in the Vis East Moot (2020), which was also the very first time my institution participated in any of the Vis moots, and my team secured an Honourable Mention in the Claimant's Memorandum category. Matthew has developed, through practice, experiences in international (cross-border) commercial and investment arbitration and matters involving PRC (Mainland) Law. He has been instructed as Counsel to advise and represent individuals of high net worth and corporate clients in arbitrations administered by major arbitral institutions in Asia, e.g. HKIAC, SIAC, and CIETAC (HK).

Before joining the Hong Kong Bar, Matthew has previously worked with an industry-leading team of international arbitration counsel at a Red Circle law firm in Beijing. Ms Hui Wen Tan

Hui Wen is an arbitration and litigation lawyer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As Senior Associate at Skrine, her dispute resolution practice focuses on commercial transactions, land acquisition, assessment tax, and aviation. Reported as an “Up and coming litigation lawyer” by asialaw Profiles 2021, Hui Wen has acted as both advocate and solicitor for Fortune Global 500 companies, government-linked companies, State agencies and a State Government in Malaysia. She has authored chapters in publications such as Halsbury’s Laws of Malaysia, Atkin’s Court Forms Malaysia and The Annotated Statutes of Malaysia.

Hui Wen served as Malaysia’s sole South Asia Regional Representative at the International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitrators Forum from 2019 to 2021. Dr Minli Tang

Dual qualified in mainland China and in New York State, Minli has practiced in dispute resolution (especially international arbitration) for years. Recently, Minli has been appointed as a Regional Representative of the ICC YAF. Minli is also a committee member of the Beihai Asia International Arbitration Centre (BAIAC, Singapore), a supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA).

Minli has represented and advised clients in arbitration under the ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, AIAC, CIETAC and China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) rules as well as under the Terms of the LMAA. Mr Herbert Targino

Herbert Targino Filho graduated from University Centre of Joao Pessoa (Unipê).

Herbert participated as oralist in the 18th Willem C. Vis East International Commercial Arbitration Moot, organized by Vis East Moot Foundation Ltd., as part of University Centre of Joao Pessoa (Unipê) team, advancing to the semifinals of the competition. Mr Anuraj Tirthankar

Prof Michael Tiu

Michael T. Tiu, Jr. is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of the Philippines College of Law. He serves concurrently, as consultant of the UP Institute of Human Rights on Business and Human Rights and Head of the International Criminal Law Program of the UP Institute of International Legal Studies.

He is part of the Philippines’ Multi-Stakeholder Group on Business and Human Rights and the BHR Fora of the the UN and the Asian Consortium. Evaristo Treviño Berlanga graduated from law school from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City (2005). He holds a Certificate in Negotiation, Mediation and Arbitration from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (2004) and a Master of Laws in Chinese and Comparative Law from City University of Hong Kong (2007).

In Mexico he practiced litigation and arbitration for over four years. In Hong Kong he worked for two years in a law firm in the China Practice area.
